Today, in 4 minutes or less, you’ll learn tips to successfully promote your first event, including:

  1. Promote consistently through email, daily social posts, and a clear landing page.
  2. Build trust with live videos, behind-the-scenes content, and personal invites.
  3. Create urgency using limited spots, early-bird offers, or fun giveaways.

Planning an event is exciting — but getting people to attend can feel scary, right? I recently chatted with a mum who is planning a big launch event, and she has been particularly focused on ways to get the word out and encourage sign-ups for her event. I thought this may be helpful to explore with you, too.

Whether you're hosting a small workshop, a live webinar, or a big event, the secret is to share your event clearly and confidently and connect with the right people.

Here are some practical, low-stress ways to promote your event (even if you're starting your business):

#1 Start with your Inner Circle

Message your friends, family, and biggest supporters. Even if they don't attend, they'll help you spread the word and pump you up.

#2 Post Consistently on Socials

Don't just post once. Talk about your event frequently across channels and on email. Preempt why people may not sign up and address any concerns or issues in your posts. Share the why behind your event — people will connect with your enthusiasm and passion!

#3 Create a Simple Landing or Checkout Page

Use tools like Canva Websites, Linktree or Eventbrite to create a page where people can easily sign up or get tickets. If it is a free event, having people sign up may still be helpful so you can gauge numbers. Encourage early sign-ups with discounts and special early bird offers.

#4 Use Instagram DMs and Messenger

Chat 1:1 with people who might be a good fit. Invite them personally — not in a spammy way, but in a genuine, helpful tone.

#5 Go Live or Record a Quick Video

People want to know the real you. Talk on camera about the event, who it's for, and what they'll walk away with.

#6 Collaborate or Cross-Promote

Ask a business friend to shout out about your event, and return the favour later. Stick up posters where your audience will see them, or organise a letter drop. You can also offer enticements for people to come that other businesses give, such as vouchers, give-aways or lucky door prizes. It's a win-win as people are excited to get a bonus to join you, and other businesses are giving away free offerings to promote themselves.

#7 Create Urgency with Limited Spots

If your event has a cap (or even if it doesn't), let people know spots are filling up. A simple line like "Only five spots left!" can prompt action.

You don't need a big budget or a fancy ad strategy to promote your event — you need to talk about it confidently, consistently, and with heart and share the details with your targeted audience.

Your attendees are out there, and your event might be exactly what they need!
